My name is Arlene Sanchez and I am a Senior at Smith College (woohoo!!!) and one of the Multicultural Recruitment Interns in the Office of Admission. I bet you must be wondering about the wonderful opportunities that the college has to offer to a young woman like you. I am from Boston, MA - a city not too far from Northampton. Since I have been at Smith, I have received an abundance of academic support and extracurricular opportunities. I am a double major, intending to graduate in May of 2013 with a BA in both Sociology and Portuguese & Brazilian Studies (this is super surreal!). I am also one of the co-chairs for Nosotras, an affinity group and the Latin@ organization on campus. I have also had the opportunity to meet and intermingle with awesome faculty and staff upon being involved with my organization and other similar leadership opportunities. In taking a breadth of classes while at Smith, I am knowledgeable of a number of departments. Therefore, if you are curious about the social life within and around the Smith bubble OR the academics at Smith, those are certainly questions I will be happy to answer for you! I can also connect you with information for campus tours, panel discussion opportunities, campus visits where you can have one-on-one interaction with other prospective students, current students as well as Smith faculty. I welcome any sort of inquiry, please reach out to me without hesitation!

Open Campus and Discovery Weekend:
The Office of Admission will welcomed an anticipated 700-plus students and families who attended Open Campus this weekend on April 18 and 19 for admitted first-year, Ada Comstock, and transfer students. Roughly 120 of these students stayed until April 20 to participate in Discovery Weekend, a program that provides admitted students of color additional opportunities to learn about Smith. Our guests visited classes, attended special events, and stayed in Smith houses.

A HUGE HOORAH to the Office of Admission on a VERY successful weekend!!!

Anderson was a Smithie for the day!
